Planning ahead

So from what I understand, we're gonna have another roommate moving in at the end of August, which is cool. Turns out there's a fur living in another townhome here that's looking to move soon (presumably to get away from "random drunk girl" who got married to someone else there on a whim), so there ya go.

I also found out from a car dealership near work that it would be rather advantageous of me to trade in my car for something newer now, especially since I might be making enough money to be able to sign for it myself rather than having to get someone to co-sign. At first I thought that still owing on my car loan would prevent me from trading it in, but apparetly that's not the case. I was told that it was very likely I could get a new Cobalt if I wanted (and it would fall in my $200/month payment range), but more than likely I'll be going for a '01-'03 light truck, like a Ranger or GMC Sonoma or something similar. Preferably something that would allow me to move furniture without having to tie it to the roof and pray it doesn't scratch up the paint. :P

I went outside not two hours ago and thought to myself, "Wow, it's a really hot and muggy day. Guess this would be as good a time as any to wash the car."

And now that I've done that, it's completely clouded over and a thunderstorm is starting up. Who'da thunk it?

Okay, all setled into the new place now. Finally, I can stop worrying for a while. *whew*

There was a bit of a screwup with the door locks so I ended up having to call maintenence last evening, but they had made us a new set of keys so all they had to o was get those to us. After that it was just a matter of getting home from work ASAP today to make sure we had enough time to at least move over all the eletronics stuff and have the cable company send someone to get our internet working. We'll get the larger furniture over Monday and probably the rest of the smaller loose stuff in between today and tomorrow.

And on a plus note, I happened to find the roommate's old beat up PS2 under a bunch of junk in the closet and my copy of Gran Turismo 2, so at least i have something to keep busy with. I absolutely love that game for its massive car selection, despite the graphics and AI definitely showing that they haven't aged too well compared to the newest games.

So according to Huntington, my car loan is paid up until July. Which is good.

Except I know for a fact that I hadn't made this month's payment yet. I'm staring at the little coupon in my payment book for June, so if I have it here then I haven't sent them any money yet. I haven't used the pass-a-payment either. But the person on the other end of the phone checked my account and said that I was paid up until July 22nd.

Hey, I won't complain. If they say I'm paid up then I believe 'em... and granted this is the best possible time for such a thing to happen. Maybe I shouldn't press the issue too much lest my good luck run out, but still... huh.

Whew.

Okay, utilities are scheduled to be transferred this weekend and we sign the paperwork and pay the remainder of the first month's rent on Friday morning. And, they're going to give us until Tuesday to get everything moved out of the current place should we need it. That's a big relief to be sure. :)

Still nothing concrete about a third roommate, though. Both me and [info]tybee have a friend in another state who would like to move in, but both are still at least a couple months away from doing that. We had someone who expressed interest on the Ohiofurs mailing list last week but haven't heard from him since then. Soooo... *shrug* Not really sure where that's headed at the moment.

Now, all's I have to do is get up enough motivation to cleanup this mess and pack what little stuff I want to bother taking with me...

And the saga continues...

After having a discussion with the rental office, they quite happily gave us the offer to move into a 2-bedroom townhome that will be ready at the first of the month. Given the circumstances they're also going to overlook a couple of fees that would normally apply, so all we need is to fill out a new rental agreement and have the deposit plus first month's rent ready by the 28th (we get the current deposit back when we move out of here).

Fortunately the townhomes in this place are much nicer than the apartment setup, much more visible with locking porch gates and decent lighting. Plus the location means we'll be just a few doors away from [info]babsbunny instead of all the way on the other side of the complex. The downside? A $200 increase in monthly rent.

BUT, with all the extra space available, now it's viable to bring in anoher roommate (or maybe two) to help out. I have a couple of people I'd like to invite, but all told we'll have to see how things pan out over the rest of this month before setting anything in stone. Still, maybe in the long run this'll turn out to be for the best... I hope so anyway. I'd hate to think that Lady Karma decided to sock us in the gut just for a cheap laugh.

Situation update...

The cat, which had gotten out when the door was left open, is back (thank goodness). The window was fixed last evening. we've gotten the serial numbers for the Xbox 360 and the Wii, and I spent the last couple hours talking to local game stores and pawn shops to give them a heads-up. I'm not really expecting to see any of the stuff again, but it can't hurt. te officer who too the break-in report will be back this afternoon so we can give him some more info too. Hopefully when he hears that these little bastards have been suspected of causing repeated trouble, he'll do something to get some kind of increased police presence in the area.

The roommate's gone to the rental office to try and demand we be allowed to move to another apartment that's got better visibility (we're currently in a bottom floor apartment that's facing away from the parking lot, partially underground and obscured a brick wall, making it very difficult to see anyone coming or going). Failing that, were going to make plans to save up money and do a lease buyout ASAP so we can get out of here. Considering one of our upstairs neighbors just broke lease and skipped out last night beause they didn't feel safe here anymore, and a few other people I've talked to have considered leaving recently too, it's not just some knee-jerk reaction to what's happened. At the very least, we're not going to renew the lease when next spring rolls around.

I'm not even really mad anymore, I just want all this crap to be over with.

Goddammit

Some little bastard kids broke into the apartment today and stole all our video game systems. Fortunately they didnt take anything else and some people have seen them around eregularly, so I think there's a chance they might be back, and hopefully caught.

Rrrrrrrrrr.

Know what's more irritating than having your wireless game controller's batteries run out?

Having your wireless game controller's batteries run out when you're halfway throug the last turn of a 25 lap race and having to wait at least an hour for them to recharge before you can finish. Thank goodness the 360 at least autopauses when it loses track of the controller's signal.

On a different note, fans of the Transformers toys should be happy to know that the newest batch of movie-themed toys are similar to the old ones, in that the directions make absolutely no sense whatsoever. On the downside they're made of much cheaper plastic than the originals were, so if you don't spend the time to decipher the insane pictograms on the paper, you're far more likely to break it via trial and error.

I guess I know what I'll be doing for the next hour or so. :P

Snake? SNAAAAAKE!!! )
That was done entirely with Forza 2's in-game design editor. You get 1,000 layers on each side of the car to work with and.. man, it would surprise me if this guy didn't use every single one of them!

I went ahead and got an Xbox 360 yesterday. Then I took it back and exchanged it for a different one because the hard drive wasn't working. Then I took THAT one back for a third one because the second one's hard drive wasn't working either. Fortunately, third time's a charm... especially since trying to find parking at Easton on a Sunday afternoon is about as fun as trying to bench press a dead buffalo.

Anyway, my Gamertag is PascalHoomiku. I'm currently playing Saint's Row and NFS: Carbon, though most of my time will probably be dominated by Forza 2 when it arrives (supposedly) later this week.

Completely unrelated thought: Rally's onion rings aren't very good anymore, not since they changed them to taste more like fish sticks for some reason. And I hate fish sticks.

And just to follow up on yesterday, today I finally got paid a large amount of money I was due from a job I did for the Columbus library a couple months ago. Since the job paid prevailing wages and spanned over five weeks, I'm very VERY happy that I finally got what I was due.

And while I won't reveal the exact amount I got today, let's just say I hope everyone someday gets to experience the feeling one gets upon receiving a paycheck with a comma in the pay total. :)

I suffered for 3 days and 32 hours on a horrible job involving moving about 4,000 reels of old films from a dusty warehouse to a cramped little office, with pretty much no cooldown time from Morphicon. My lower body still feels like a car fell on them, and between all the walking, lifting of heavy boxes and working in hot weather and dusty cramped rooms, I'm just glad that I managed to see it all through.

But, after we finished the job I ended up getting a $10 tip from the people we were working for, and when I decided to head out with the roommate for some Rally's and spend of that money, I was quite happy to discover that they accidentally tossed in an order of bacon cheddar fries and didn't charge us for it. On top of that, I'm quite likely to end up getting at least a few overtime hours this week as well, which means I've got a nice chunk of cash coming in next week.

Yeah, I'm feeling much better now. :)

Hi. :)

Not much to say just this moment, I just wanted to go ahead and get this set up quickly before heading out. I'll have some real content in the next couple days, promise. :)
